James "Jim" Carl Antonelli, age 82 of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024. He was born to the late Carl and Carmella Antonelli in Dover, Ohio in 1942. He attended Dover High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball, and he later graduated from Bowling Green University in Ohio. He worked as a high school teacher and coach before making a career in sales for companies such as BF Goodrich and Eaton Corporation. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed playing basketball and coaching his daughters’ basketball and soccer teams. Using sports analogies to coach up family and friends was one of his special traits. Another passion was chopping wood and building his woodpile for winter fireplace use. Any home visitor was sure to be offered a tour of his woodpile. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and organizing the family sports pools.As he grew older Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often including dinner, board games, and coffee. He stayed busy attending his grandchildren’s events, keeping up with high school and college classmates, and piecing together jigsaw puzzles.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his older sister, Mary Louise Tate. Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years Carol, children Lizabeth Butler (Joe) and Charlotte Rieth (Brian), grandchildren Lindsey Butler, Emily Rieth, Ashley Butler, and Paul Rieth, sister Barbara Van Epps and many lifelong friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Orange Park at 11am.
