Donald Rowland Bergeron, age 90, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024. He was born to the late Louise (Renaudeau) and Bruno Bergeron in Manhattan, NY in 1934. He graduated high school 1955 and became a New York City police officer in March of 1957 until his retirement in July of 1978. In addition to his civil service, Donald honorably served in the United States Navy Reserves for eight years. He enjoyed cruises, boating, shooting pool, dancing and playing cards. Donald is predeceased by his wife, Lucille Erhard Bergeron, sons; Gene Bergeron and Eric Bergeron, bonus son Joseph Godwin, and many wonderful friends along with his brothers and sisters in blue. Donald is survived by his daughter Renee Harris (Dane), bonus daughter Agnes (Aggie) Penn, bonus son Jason Godwin, brother Howard Bergeron (Maureen), six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and the mother of his children Louise Bergeron.
A Celebration of Donald's life will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Rick Crews to officiate at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home at 127 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Florida 32073. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am with light refreshments.
