Clinton Franklin "Bud" Attebery, age 97, died Monday, April 8, 2024 at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek. He was born 12 Mar 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the son of the late Franklin William Attebery and Mary Williamson (Siscoe).
He retired as US Navy Master Chief E 9 (1945-1968) and Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF) 1968-1988. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve # 126, former member of German American Club. Bud and Shirley loved to travel and experience new things. Bud was a former active member of the Hurricane Hunters.
They visited 35 + National Parks and Monuments as well as parts of Europe. Bud was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed.
Bud was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Sarah (Sparks) Jacobsen, his daughter, Michelle Shaffner and his sisters Manie White Steinhurst and Phyllis Brown. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Shirley Attebery; daughters Mary McNair (Walter) of Jacksonville; Linda Carpenter of Jacksonville; Gail Sapp (Glenn) of Orange Park; grandchildren Melanie Heredia (Dagmarx) of Virginia; W. Clinton McNair (Sara) of Alachua; Dianne Grimsley (Michael) of Brooksville; Charles R. Carpenter, Jr. (Patricia) of Monticello; Sarah Carley (Jeremy) of Middleburg; one niece Mary Phyllis McCoy of Kansas; one nephew Gary Steinhurst of Kansas, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Bud leaves on Shirley's side four step-children; Barbara Ainsley (Bill) of North Carolina; Alan Singer (Ann) of Georgia, Jeannie Ryan (Zac) and John Singer (Vicki) both of Florida along with 18 grand and great grandchildren.
A visitation for Bud will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073; funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
A Celebration of Life will be held after the committal service at Fleet Reserve Hall # 126, 7673 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32244.
