Carolyn Sue Linkfield of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the age of 78. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Genevieve Gentry of Hamlin, WV and James C. Stapleton of Huntington, WV; her husband Orville Fredrick “Pete” Linkfield III of Barboursville, WV; and her beloved dogs Cuddles, Baby, and Max.
Carolyn was born on November 29, 1943 in Huntington, West Virginia. She was a graduate of Huntington East High School. Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Pete Linkfield. She started her life-long career at CSX Transportation in 1962. Carolyn and Pete went on to have 3 children. She transferred with CSX to Jacksonville in 1986 where she lived the remainder of her years. Carolyn retired in 2017 from CSX after serving 55 years as an Executive Administrative Assistant. She was known at work for being a dedicated employee. She loved to spend time with her family, garden, and collect various memorabilia.
Cherishing her memory are her 3 children, Lora Beth Morrison (Eric Alan), Lisa Michelle Williams (Eric Fitzgerald), and Loren Patrick Linkfield; And lastly, her 7 grandchildren, Katie Ann Morrison Jarvis (James Aaron) , Alexis Grace Williams, Tyler James Morrison, Callie Jeneal Morrison, Eric Fitzgerald Williams II, Casey Michael Linkfield, and Chloe Merica Linkfield.
A memorial will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hardage Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society in memory of Cuddles, Baby, and Max Linkfield.
