Our first Christmas without Daddy, Tatay and Papa. We will forever love and miss you!

Found the picture of one of my firsts, this was me preparing to give birth to our firstborn. Papa Angga was there for me and Richard, the first one to congratulate us as we were initially two who became one, then became a little family of three.

Papa Angga was one of a kind, and his warmth and kindness will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Our deepest condolences go out to the Ello clan during this tough time especially to Mama Ajane, Anne, Rhemar, Rain and River. We will be here to grieve with you,  to comfort you and be with you as you continue Papa Angga’s legacy of living life to the fullest. Papa Angga, we will forever be grateful for all that you have shared with us: your home, your family, your love. May you rest in peace…💐♥️✝️🕊️Richard, Myrah, Ram, Marc

Salamat kaayo Papa Angga for everything you’ve done for us especially during the time when we were just starting our lives here in the US. You and Mama Ajane were the first ones who helped us get settled here in Jacksonville. Thanks for watching Ram and Marc when they were babies and Myrah and I need to be at work. I won’t forget your ever-ready encouragements, your generosity, your kindheartedness, your big smile, and of course, your love for our Pambansang Kamao, Manny Pacquiao. I know you’re in a much better place now. I will not bid you farewell but so long, until we meet again. Rest eternally in peace at the bosom of our Heavenly Father, God Almighty. —-Richard(s) [sic]

A bible verse forever etched in my heart, the one that Papa Angga taught Anne & I while we were navigating puberty in high school.Thank you Papa Angga for taking me into your family like one of your own, for being one w/ Mama Ajane in helping us secure a better future for our family.Only few know that you have encouraged me & supported me in many of my firsts as a wife, a mom, a homemaker.Thank you for the late night knocks to have me answer my husband’s calls when, as newly-weds, I had to immigrate solo initially here in the US.Thank you for holding my hand when I learned that I was to become a first-time mother, I was terrified of the enormous responsibility of raising a child in a new culture & country that was miles away from home, very far from Mommy & Daddy.Thank you for cheerfully giving me the much-needed rides to/from my workplace & my first appointments to establish my life here in Jacksonville.You were also the first to visit us when I gave birth to our firstborn, the first to wish the best for Richard & I as we started our family.Thank you for being our sons’ grandpa, they still remember the times that no matter how hard we scrambled for childcare, there wasn’t any but Lolo Angga who could be w/ them while we finished our work shifts.All these, you did w/ a big smile, cheerfully saying “Ok ra, pag amping lang mo”. Truly you didn’t tell us how to live; you lived, & let us watch you live it well. And as is written in the verse you shared, the sufferings in this world are only of this world for true happiness in God’s kingdom is incomparably glorious, which I claim in Jesus’ name is what you are rewarded with. It has been a privilege to call you our Papa Angga! Palangga-on namo imong mga pinalangga, I only ask that you assure Daddy Pit &Tatay Narding that we are ok but missing the three of you. Dear Tito, 

I was only a teenager when you arrived in the States and I remember your big smile walking into my mom’s house at Duclay. 

There are not many men in our family and I always remembered the joy you brought to our house -  how your jokes made my mom laugh lots, making her shout  “binuang!” at your older brother antics. 

I remember our chess games and the stories and pride you shared about Lolo Enciong. And how you would always encouraged me to connect with my father in the Philippines. When my father passed, you challenged me what I would do in that moment - you asked “what is your chess move?” I still think about your question each time I make a big life decision. Always the wiser, you beat me every time in chess. 

I will remember you as our family’s orator - always ready to quote Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address: “Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal,” to remind me of what the American Dream aspires to be.

I could hear the pride in your voice about this country you learned to love while still making sure I knew Jose Rizal and where we come from: from the  memories of Mindanao to the ancestors of Bohol. 

I’ll remember the random US pop names you called me - “Karl Malone!” “Obama!” I still have no clue why you called me them but you made them even more cool so I rooted for Karl Malone and Obama too. 

I also remember the disappointment in your eyes when I told you I wouldn’t be a lawyer, and I felt a piece of a family dream was lost, because I know in another lifetime you would have been a great lawyer for the people. 

I regret not taking you up on more chess games.  I know you’re in a better place playing chess with your father, laughing a lot and being “binuang” with my mom. Thank you for your joy, Tito, and sharing life’s chess lessons with me.

Condolence to Ajing, Ann, Ello Siblings and relatives. Eternal Rest grant unto the soul of Arturo oh Lord, may Your perpetual light shine upon him and may he rest in peace. Ga, thank you for the time that you were able to see your relatives in Bohol. We will miss you.

After about 20 years I meet Art in Jacksonville, we were co workers in the Phils when both of us work with a shipping company in the Phils. We had a lot of laughter recalling our life in Philippines. One time he invited me to sleep in their house since he  is alone since Virgie and company were in Disneyland, Orlando and again we were not able to sleep well since we were discussing and talking about anything. On the following day when my son in law pick me up he told me that he will be going to the Phils.  While in the Phils he called me one time but we were not able to talked well because he called me at 2 AM, I told him to call me again in the morning but maybe he is busy he did not call me.  Until Anne call me last week about the situation of Art which really shock me and was so saddened of his predicament. ART I will miss you and I will miss our conversation and laughter. Rest in Peace my friend.

Visitation

Arturo was predeceased by his sister, Floresa Merced Ello- Esclamado, and is survived by his loving wife of 50 yrs, (5/19/1973- 5/19/2023), Virginia Ello; daughter, Eloisa Anne Ello-Esma,Rhemar Axl Esma (son-in law); brother, Florencio Ello Jr.; sisters: Estrella Ello-Ortega, Socorro Ello-Ira, Carmen Ello- Frias, Marylou Ello, Jesusa Ello-Peusca and Corazon Ello- Manalo; grandchildren:Rain Azrael Esma and River Andrael Esma; and a host of extended family and friends.
