She attended St. Johns Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric Nursing and Substance Abuse. She was board certified in Psychiatry and Mental Health and licensed at Supervisory Level in Alcohol and Drug Abuse. She earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Counseling. She completed her military schools and attended Army War College.
Adrienne joined the Army Nurses Corps in 1966 as a 1st Lieutenant and served in Vietnam for 2 consecutive years as a MASH nurse and was there for the first TET offensive. She was promoted to Captain and awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart while in Vietnam. She was then stationed in Hawaii for three years and then left active duty but stayed in the Army Nurses Corps Reserve Status until she retired in 1987 when she was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel.
She was a Life Member in the Disabled Veterans of America, the Trench Rats, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion. She was also a member of the Women's Army Corps/Army Women United, and the Eastern Star for over 25 years. She was listed in Who's Who of Professional Persons in 1995,1996, and 1997 as well as Who's Who in America in 2001.
Her life has been dedicated to helping others and loving animals. She has been loved and respected by all who knew her. Her hobby, career, and life focus has always been to lead others through the dark days of their lives and back into the light, even in a dangerous war zone on the front lines.
She was predeceased by her partner Jackie Steedley and was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to Jackie's family.
