William graduated from Edison High School. After graduation he joined the Marine Corps during WWII. After the war William went to to work for Florida Power and Light (FPL) as a Lineman. He took some classes at the University of Miami in Electrical Engineering. He worked his way to Master Electrician in the "Trouble Department". He worked for FPL for over 40 years when he retired.
William was a Mason for many years until his first wife took ill and he had to take care of her. He loved gospel and country music, attending revivals and all night sings. He was an avid Miami Hurricane and Miami Dolphins' football fan.
His only child, Rebecca Lena, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Carol B. West. He was a member of Stetson Baptist Church. William was well loved by family and friends.
A visitation will occur Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763.
A funeral service for William will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763.
A committal service will occur Friday, March 24, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memorial Plan Flagler Memorial Park, 5301 W Flagler St, Miami, FL 33134.
