Virginia “Sue” Caldwell was sleeping peacefully when God put his loving arms around her and lifted her to rest in Heaven’s Eternal Garden the evening of Thursday, December 18, 2015, at the age of 72.
Those who were touched by Sue’s life understood her love for the Lord, her children and her grandchildren. With her gentle nature and kind heart, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. With our Lord there is no pain, no illness, no harsh words. She is in the arms of the best comforter there will ever be. She was an amazing woman who shall not be forgotten for generations to come.
As a teen, she loved to dance and would sneak out her bedroom window to enjoy evenings at Sock Hops. As a young woman, she would spend hours enjoying her children as they grew and found their balance in life. As a mother of teens and then adult children, she listened attentively, advised prudently and prayed daily for God to guide and watch over her family. As a grandmother she both listened to and shared stories, played games, and watched as each one grew from chatted toddlers to beautiful adults. Just as God began blessing her with great-grandchildren, vascular dementia aggressively began steeling most of her memories and her ability to communicate.
Sue’s time in prayer and building her relationship with God was most precious to her. Her favorite song was, “Just as I am, Without One Plea” written by Charlotte Elliott in 1835. She very much enjoyed Celine Dion’s music. Her favorite authors were Greg Laurie and Diana Gabaldon.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Lonnie (Amy) Caldwell of Orange City, FL, her daughter, Daphne Caldwell-Skog (Tom) of Jacksonville, FL, her grandchildren Daniel Bagdonas , Desiree Huckleberry, Chrysta Wilson, Nicole Caldwell and Rachael Caldwell, her great-grandchildren, Alex and Lily Tompkins, Alexandria, Sarai, and Jayce Wilson, her 21 nieces and nephews, her sisters Brenda (Steven) VanDuyne, Fonnie Cheeseman and her brother Norman (Marion) Pilkenton, her brother-in-law Glen Caldwell and her mother-in-law Velma Pettingill.
Celebration of Sue's Life will be held on January, 2, 2015 at 1:00 P.M.at Deltona Memorial Fuenral Home.
