

Victoria Sofie (Mastalski) Maier 94 years old, passed away on Friday, 17 April 2020 at Edgewater at Waterman Village Nursing Home in Mount Dora, Florida. Vicki was born on 10 May 1925 in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania to immigrant parents, Frank and Mary (Zakrezewski) Mastalski. She was preceeded in death by 10 older siblings, 6 sisters and 4 brothers. She met and married Carl (Cal) Joseph Maier on 13 August 1947 in Altoona, Pennsylvania shortly after his return from the Pacific theater where he had honorably served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Alabama during World War II. Carl preceeded Vicki in death on 27 September 1999 in Debary, Volusia County, Florida after 52 years of marriage.
Vicki is survived by their only child, Tamara Ann Rains and husband Terry Rains of DeLand, Volusia County, Florida, Grandson Justin Michael and wife Alysha (Simonson) Carr of Deltona, Volusia County, Florida, with Great Granddaughter Livy Ryan Carr.
She worked for Sylvania Electric Products in Altoona, PA., which was involved in producing vacuum tubes for the Navy during WWII. After marrying Carl Maier in 1947, she was employed in the family business, Reliable Beer Distributing Company in Altoona. In 1975, they sold their business and retired to Central Florida. Devoted Catholics, they attended several area churches, most recently, Saint Ann's Catholic Church in DeBary. Vicki was very much loved by her family, close friends, and neighbors whom will miss her very much.
Vicki was laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Winter Park, Florida on Friday, the 24th of April, next to her devoted husband Carl. A celebration of life memorial will be scheduled for a later date, after the COVID 19 virus threat has subsided.
