Tom was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 28, 1938 to James Thomas Edwards and Grace Pearl Carpenter Edwards. When he was 6 years old he moved to Florida with his mother and grandmother.
He went to school in Orlando and graduated from Edgewater High School in 1957 where he was the school's drum major and also played the trumpet. Immediately after graduation he joined the Army and served for 11 years in the Army Reserves. He then attended college in Pittsburgh, PA and went on to spend his entire career in banking. He was involved and very committed to many organizations such as the Daytona Beach Jaycees, Kiwanis, and Rotary Clubs.He retired in 2003 from Southtrust Bank. After he retired he spent many of his days fellowshipping on the golf course and traveling with Cherise. He loved karaoke, dancing, play tennis, and spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted Gator fan.
Tom married the love of his life, Cherise, in 1983 and just celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cherise; daughter, Tammi (Tedd); step-son, Matthew (MaryLou); step-daughter, Michelle; five grandchildren, Taylor, Aubrey, Macey, Frederick, and Grant; beloved sister-in-laws, a brother-in-law, many precious nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services for Tom will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Deltona Alliance Church (921 Deltona Blvd, Deltona, FL 32725). The visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. The funeral service will be from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm and a graveside service will follow the funeral at Deltona Memorial Gardens (1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763) at 3:30 pm.
