Rojeedan (Rose) Khan was born on the beautiful Island of Trinidad and Tobago on January 26, 1933 to the late Samiran and Ramjohn Khan. She was one of seven children and grew up in the town of Williamsville, where she attended primary and secondary school. Rose was determined to have a better life for herself and family. So, in 1965, she migrated to the USA looking forward to a new future as she began to work hard towards her goal.
Rose settled in Brooklyn where she eventually established her family home. There she welcomed and entertained family and friends for years. Everyone who knew Rose, knew her hobbies were cooking, crocheting and sewing while chatting with different family and close friends. She also shared her recipes with each granddaughter, who were very special to her.
Rose worked in child care for several years and later at Seacrest Health Care Center as a clerk for 25 years. After her retirement in 1998, she relocated to Deltona, Florida. She loved life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She never forgot where she came from and would travel to Trinidad and Tobago frequently to see her parents and siblings, taking back a little bit of America each time for them. Rose was privileged to see both of her children, and granddaughters married and three generations of her offspring.
Rose suffered from ill health for many years, but always managed to look on the bright side of life. On June 11, 2021, she succumbed to her illness, surrounded by her family. She leaves to mourn their loss her two children: Joan Berry (James, deceased) and Azard (Lorna); grandchildren: Lisa Kalidas-Taylor; Loren Vaughan (Christopher); Erin Carmichael (Hugh); great grandchildren: Jonathan and James Hunter; Christopher Vaughan Jr.; and Hannah Rose Carmichael; her sister Dolly Ali and brother Nazim Khan; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Until then, sweet be thy rest Rose.
