Richard L. Greene

Richard (Dick) Louis Greene, 92 of Deland passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019. Mr. Greene is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Greene and Bertha M. LaPlante. He was a native of Watertown, NY. Dick worked for AT&T telephone Company until transferring to Southern, FL where he worked for Southern Bell over a 37 year career span. Mr. Greene was an avid golfer, fisherman and duck hunter. He loved sharing his sporting experiences with his son, Greg. Dick always had a story to tell and never met a stranger.

Mr. Greene is survived by his wife of 72 years, Helen Hefferman Greene whom he absolutely adored. Also, left to cherish his memory, is his daughter, Susan Marie Wells; son, Gregory Matthew Greene, his wife Cathy; grandchildren, Megan Greene Nester (Brandon), Matthew Christopher Greene, Charles Wells, and Shannon Wells; 5 great-grandchildren and his beloved, 101 year old Aunt Mary.

A Memorial Mass will be held November 13, 2019 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Andrej officiating with a private inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
