Ralph E. Tyler, 91, passed away on January 31, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ralph had a smile that could light up the room. We were not sure if he was smiling to be friendly or smiling because he was up to something. He loved all things sweet and would find ways to get them even though he was diabetic.
Ralph was born in Nashua, New Hampshire and lived there until he retired to DeBary, Florida in 1993 with his wife of 30 years, Aline (Powlowsky). Ralph was previously married to the late Beatrice (Marquis) for 30 years with whom he had five children.
Ralph retired from the Air National Guard after serving in the Navy. He was proud of his service and was actively involved in the American Legion Post 3 (Nashua, NH) including being Commander. Once he was in Florida he started a Veteran’s lunch for fellow Veterans to gather and have fun.
Ralph worked at IPBM in Nashua, New Hampshire as a supervisor for many decades. He also worked at Carter’s Men’s Shop, where his knack for style enabled him to be a great salesman and dresser. Ralph lived a full life as he loved the beach, dancing and going on cruises. His favorite cruise was the one to Alaska. His favorite part of any cruise was the endless buffets.
Ralph’s parents were the late Albert and Margaret Tyler, he was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Earl, Richard, Gerald, Albert, Jr. and Roger. He is survived by his sister Jeanne Haerinck, and her husband Victor. His surviving children are Michael, his wife Jade and their daughter Allyson Edjowski; Patrick, his wife Sharon, son Aaron and daughter Melissa Grove; Cheryl Gruwell, her husband Steve Walters and her daughter Beatrice Gruwell; Barbara Tyler, her husband Gary Hogan, and her daughter Brittany Hart; Christine Carrier, her husband Gerald and their son Brad. His grandson Benjamin Carrier predeceased him.
He is also survived by stepsons Richard Powlowsky, his wife Barbara and their children Evan and Kate, Peter and his wife Mary, Jeff and his wife Judy and son Alexander and stepdaughter Nancy Dame and her husband Jon.
He is also loved by many great and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A brief service for his local friends and loved ones will be at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, Wednesday, February 10 from 10:00am -11:00am. His family will have a separate burial service in New Hampshire at a later date. Deltona Memorial Funeral Home has an on-line memorial at www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/10035959
