He was born in Chicago, IL on November 23, 1943 to Earnest Williams and Mary Williams McKenzie. He graduated from Tilden Tech High School (Chicago, IL) and Roosevelt University (Chicago, IL). He earned a BA and MA.
He was married to Faye B Williams on August 8, 1972. Michael served in the US Army, worked as a draftsman (Harza Engineering Company, Chicago, IL), an educator (Dunbar High School, Chicago, IL), and served as an officer, including Financial Secretary, to the Chicago Teachers Union, Chicago, IL for many years.
He was a member of St. Edmund's Episcopal Church (Chicago, IL) and St. Jude’s Episcopal Church (Orange City, FL). Michael earned the Thirty-Third and Last Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Freemasonry and served as Illinois Grand Secretary General. Michael had a passion for service, travel, studying the Word of God, photography, singing and spending quality time with family and friends.

Great Grandchildren: Nehemiah, Zoë, Cierra, Quavyon, Jermauri, Jermontae, Akeelah, Anyiah, Alayah, Aaliyah, Kemanni Jr., Kennedy, and Navy
Brothers: Lester McKenzie (Deborah), Lawrence McKenzie
