June Weber Hetzel, (96) of Deland, FL, died peacefully in her home the morning of July 1st. Born June 3, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, June married Bob Hetzel in June of 1947. She was mother of 8 children, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. June made each of her children feel special and treated friends like family. She served countless years as a troop mother, softball coach, and on parish councils and PTA. June was an avid golfer and bridge player, member of the “Hole-in-One” Club, loved all sports, especially the Green Bay Packers and Marquette University Basketball. In 1987, June and her husband retired to Orange City and were members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. At the time of her death, June was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Deland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert John Hetzel, her son, Stephen John and son in-law, William Addison Minneman.
June is survived by her children, Barbara Jean Allen, Mary Jo Silady (John), Margaret Ann Minneman (William), Robert Francis Hetzel (Doris), Susan Marie Nyquist, Theresa Joan Hetzel, and Joseph Gerard Hetzel (Maria); grandchildren Christopher Paul Allen (Shawn), Sarah Elizabeth (Allen) Burt, Matthew John Silady, Terri Lynn Silady, Jesse Addison Minneman (Claire), Gretchen Marie (Minneman) Kostura (James); Andrew Phillip Hetzel (Kathy), Stephen Paul Hetzel (Anne), Margaret Ann (Hetzel) Orlowski (Stephen), Molly Marie (Nyquist) Luichinger (Kyle), Samuel August Nyquist (Kim), Max Weber Nyquist, Christopher Joseph Hetzel, Emily June Hetzel; 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister in-law Mary Hetzel Daul.
The children of June ask that our friends refrain from sending flowers and donations. To honor their mother’s life, please take a moment to sit down to dinner with your family or friends, take your children out for an ice-cream cone, or simply do something nice for a neighbor or stranger.
