John was the owner and operator of John Watson Construction of Friendswood TX.He was a 12 year Naval Reserve Veteran where he achieved the rank of 1st class petty officer.
John had moved to Orlando Florida when he was 6 weeks old, while spending his childhood in Florida he had attended Hillcrest Elementary and Memorial Jr High School. After completing Jr High School he then went to Georgia Military Academy where he spent 4 years and graduated as a Cadet Officer. He also attended many education institutions such as University of Georgia, Georgia Institute of Technology, College of Marion in CA, Trenton State Teachers College, received a Associate Degree from Golf Coast Jr. College and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Houston.
John was employed with the Philco Corporation for over 20 years, later had involved himself in the Aerospace industry working in such capacities with MIT Lincoln Labs,NASA Johnson Space Center during the Apollo project. In 1976 John started his Building Corporation doing residential and commercial projects for over 25 years and during that time had built many homes for numerous Astronauts.
John was married to Dorothy Thurman for 30 years until her passing of Alzheimer ’s disease , then married Marian Watson who he has been married to for the past 6 years.
Friends will be received at the Deltona Memorial Funeral Home 1295 Saxon Blvd Orange City Florida 386-775-4260 from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Monday December 20, 2010, a funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday December 21, 2010 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers family request donations are made to the Salvation Army of your choice.
