John was born on December 8, 1933 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a first generation Italian American and very proud of his Italian heritage. His dad instilled in John an enviable work ethic and a sense of loyalty to family and country.
John enlisted in the Navy at age 18 and thereafter remained in the Naval Reserve for 32 years. He enjoyed his time on ships and working on airplanes. He loved traveling to far away places while in the Navy.
John learned the sheet metal trade from his father and worked in the industry for over 40 years, all at the same company. He started as an apprentice and retired as a superintendent for the company’s biggest contracts. He always finished his jobs on time and under budget. Even after retirement, he still attended union meetings.
John was an avid boater and loved spending time on the water with family and friends. He restored several antique cars, there was nothing he couldn’t fix. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
