"Dr. Jay 'Ted' Cosmato was our pastor at The Rock Baptist Church in Rex, Ga. 1961-1966.  His life and servant leadership encouraged steady growth by living example and motivational sermons/teachings, all delivered in response to God's direction to him for us.  There were five outstanding characteristics of his inspired leadership evident in his life:  (1) Awareness of opportunity.  Be prepared--don't miss golden opportunities to share the gospel.  Brother Ted was always positively prepared...for sermons, lessons, encouraging the needy, counsel to individuals and groups.  Study, meditate and act.  Ted demonstrated preparation in his daily life...always seeking God, Bible study, meditation, regular and fervent prayer, and listening time for God to communicate in some way.  The plan seemed to be: read, think, meditate, pray and be ready to say "Yes, Lord" when the direction and opportunity came.  (2) Attention to detail.  Ted was a finisher of what he started.  He believed the Lord held him accountable to lead others to follow.  (3) Economic acuity.  Brother Ted prioritized the value and use of time and money.  He followed closely his goals and plans of action.  (4)  Appreciation of human value.  He was consistent in his availability to those in need of spiritual guidance in their challenging walk of life.  (5) Spiritual depth.  Ted achieved great depth through Bible study, daily meditation, prayer and his commitment to trust and obey and share time with fellow believers.
     Brother Ted was a great family man.  He loved, adored and enjoyed immensely his beloved Emmie, and Richard and Cathy.
     And, he was my (Harmon's) friend, a man with whom I cherished sharing my heart, church work, life and fun.  
     May his legacy encourage each of us to follow and teach to others the messages heard and daily shown in his life and ministry."

I never had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Cosmato but I do know his son Richard and I know his dad was terrific - you would have to be to have such a terrific son. I am so sorry for the families loss - I have heard such great stories of the fun he was in life.

I have been so touched by all which has been said of my father.  So many kind words which I couldn't even repeat all of them here.  He touched the hearts and minds of so many people even at his own funeral service.  One young woman said, I learned some stuff about passing that I never really realized before.  Your dad touched so many people's lives and won so many for Jesus.  I am so glad that I was able to hear his testimony for Jesus.

Other young people said, He's with Jesus and that's the best feeling anyone could ever ask, for he is safe, he's rejoicing with the angels in heaven. and Dr. Ted was a huge influence in my young Christian life.

I see him as one dear friend said, Angels in heaven are laughing at his jokes.  I heard my father on many occasions of someone passing say the following, which I have paraphrased in honor of him.

Daddy after 85 years of playing the game of life and finally being tried, you laid your head down in the bosom of Jesus Christ and just went to sleep.

I love you, your son signing off with as you always did, "Sincerely yours - Happily His".

Richard and family I am so sorry to hear about your loss. From the things you said about your father at work, I know he was a great man and you looked up to him.  My condolences my friend

Who can say in words the value of a praying leader like Dr Ted whose heart is devoted to leading people to Jesus who leads us to God. Dr Ted, a trusted teacher of the word from the Bible, he visited those sick or in the hospital and comforted the grieving. His enthusiasm, talents and organization skills were much to be appreciated. He served faithfully to his calling and always signed off with "Sincerely yours - Happily His". He is remembered with ✝❤

Dr. Ted was a huge influence in my young Christian life. A gentleman, a scholar and wonderful man of God. He will be missed on earth, but what a wonderful reunion on Heaven's shores! Blessings and love to all the family.

I have lost a good friend, this world has lost a wonderful man, the church has lost a great preacher, we have lost a hero a soldier of the cross. Heaven has gained a saint. Dr Ted made me laugh so many times with his wit and humor. He  lifted my spirit with his wisdom and knowledge of the word of God. Angels in heaven are laughing at his jokes. We will see him someday soon. Thoughts, Love , and Prayers are with you all.

We are thankful to God for Dr. Ted's many contributions to Carson's Chapel in Marion, NC.  His leadership in our Bible Study Sunday mornings meant so much to all who attended.  We pray for peace and comfort for his wonderful family.  Emmie and Richard we are very sorry for this sad news but we know where we will all meet again.  We send our love and comfort to you both.
