Gary Alan Pierce, 62, of Orange City, Florida, passed away on October 29, 2024. Born October 13, 1962, in Washington Court House, Ohio, Gary was a man defined by his strong work ethic, dedication to family, and zest for life. A proud graduate of Washington High School, he carried the values of his Ohio hometown into every chapter of his life.
Gary had a fulfilling career with Florida Public Utilities, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement. Never one to remain idle, he later founded his own landscaping business, Buckeye Landscaping, and also ran a barbecue catering business, "Buckeye Barbeque," alongside his beloved wife, Lorri. Married on August 6, 1988, after meeting on a blind date, Gary and Lorri shared 36 years of partnership, love, and many treasured memories.
Gary’s passions ran deep—from hunting, fishing, and gambling to working and following his Ohio State Buckeyes. He cherished Saturdays in the fall, gathering with lots of friends and family to cheer on his favorite team. His love for barbecuing brought people together, creating unforgettable moments and delicious meals.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lorri; his mother, Mary DeWeese; his children, Brittany, Clint, and Taylor Pierce; and his sister, Debra Bongiovanni. His family and friends will miss his kindness, warmth, and unbreakable spirit.
A gathering of family and friends for Gary will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A celebration of life will follow from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a reception from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location.
