Born on August 28, 1933, to the late Lynlile Fraser and Fernando M. Ortiz, Sr. in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.
At the tender age of 2, Fernando moved to Jamaica W.I. with his mother and siblings. Fernando spent his childhood in Desire District, Clarendon, Jamaica West Indies, where he excelled academically. After graduating from Excelsior Community College in Kingston, Jamaica West Indies, Fernando began his professional career at the tax office in the parish of St. Thomas, Jamaica, West Indies.
In 1955, Fernando returned to Cuba to reunite with his father and siblings.
In 1961, Fernando migrated to New York, to be with his older sister Olga. While living in New York, Fernando worked as a Payroll Courier with Automatic Data Processing (ADP), before retiring and moving to Florida in 2001.
Fernando loved family, food, and fellowship...especially a good game of dominoes. He also enjoyed watching Christian programs on TBN, as well as 3ABN television stations.
Fernando was preceded in death by his late parents, five sisters, and two brothers.
Living to cherish Fernando's memory is his beloved sister and friend-Olga Huggins (Arthur) nee Ortiz, Brother-Fernando "Tato" Ortiz (Carmen), brother-Fernando "Pablo" Ortiz, and a whole host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deltona Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Orange City, Florida.
Funeral service will be on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 1:00PM.
