Mrs. Kreft was born on November 8, 1930 in Flint, MI, the youngest daughter or Ernest and Roseanna Morgan.
She was united in marriage to Frederick C. Kreft in 1947. She retired in 1982 after 32 years of employment with A.C. Spark Plug in Flint. She started on the production line in 1950 and ended her career as the Administrative Assistance to the Director of Industrial Engineering. She was a lane bowler and served as secretary/treasurer for several bowling leagues, as well as serving as a director for the Deland 500 Club. She was inducted into the Volusia County WBA Hall of Fame in 2002. She also served as president of the Pierce Park lawn bowling club for 3 years. She played the organ and was the president of the Deltona Organ Club for 3 years. She taught both organ and piano lessons. She also belonged to Young at Heart Cloggers, as well as a ladies barbershop group. She belonged to O.E.S. #517 and Ladies El Said Shrine and was the organist for these groups for several years. They started several square dance clubs in and around the Flint area. Eleanor was one of the few female square dance callers. She and her husband moved to Deltona after their daughter and son-in-law moved here the previous year.
Mrs. Kreft is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Fred, and sister, Evelyn Burns. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Donald) Gwin; 2 grandchildren, Brad (Jennifer) Chasteen and Leigh Anne (Jeffrey) Rivers; 5 great-grandchildren, twins Matthew (Sarah Olson) Chasteen and Andy (Eddna Morales Ortiz) Chasteen, Zoe (James Cox) Chasteen, Cooper and Morgan Rivers; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Addyson Chasteen and Forrest Cox.
Friends will be received at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. where a Life Celebration Service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
