She was born in Scituate, Rhode Island on December 7, 1933 a daughter to the late Elizabeth (Weeks) Marchetti and her late father John Crompton.
She was a Special Education bus driver for the Coventry Public Schools up to her retirement (198?). Around 1986 she and her beloved Richard moved to Deltona, Florida.
Dorothy was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church of West Warwick, RI (approx. 50 yrs). She was a member of Eastern Star for many years. In her early retirement she and Richard enjoyed traveling they loved Hawaii (deemed their special place), but later in her life she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her favorite times were spent cooking/baking for "The Girls," especially the special Holiday Luncheons. If you knew Dorothy, guaranteed you would receive one of her special cheesecakes sooner or later.
But, most of all she cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren, if not in person then, by phone or face time.
Dorothy is survived by her son Allen and his wife Marylou; a daughter Elizabeth and her husband Gary Moore; 5 grandsons and 7 great grandchildren, all from Rhode Island and Massachusetts; as well as her loving Florida adopted family: Robert and Genny Chywski; their daughter, her husband, and 3 children.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy; preceded in death by her sisters; Gloria Salisbury and Cleo "Pat" Grandchamp.
Services will be held at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, Rhode Island at a future date.
