Steven Boyd Truax, 62, left this world on January 17th, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with depression. It is not how he passed that he will be remembered by, but how he lived and loved. Steve married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Beth, on October 23rd, 1982. Together in their 41 years of marriage, they created a big, loving and close family, of which was his self-proclaimed greatest achievement. Family was also the center of his career, as Co-owner and President of Astro Pool Company Incorporated, a local family-owned business, for 20 years. His integrity, professionalism, and expertise was unmatched, and he was an integral part in its reputation and success. He would often tell others that the best part of his job was witnessing the betterment his aquatic centers brought to communities and the joy it brought to children and their families.
As a beloved father and Papa, he embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, unwavering support, and the best dad humor. His selfless character could be seen through his commitment to serving others, family, neighbors, and strangers alike. An avid diy-er, he always had a new reno project in the works. His favorite days were spent in the presence of his family, hosting family at the lake house, entertaining his grandchildren, jet-skiing on Lake Erie, and golfing with his son, sons-in-law, brothers and nephews. When he wasn’t doing that, you could find him on his Harley with his wife Beth, taking the scenic route and meeting up with friends. His family vacations were some of the happiest moments of his life.
Steve’s beloved family, who will live on to honor his life, include his wife, Beth Desiderio-Truax; children, Brittany (Steve) Hobson, Kaylyn (Jon) Anderson, Nickolas (Sidney) Truax, Dianna Truax and Brenna Truax; grandchildren, Bella and Nora Hobson, Violet, Charlotte, Levi, and Emilia Anderson, Ema and Evie Truax; mother-in-law, Clarice Desiderio; siblings, Chuck Truax, Staci Halpin, Tony (Susan) Truax, Vince (Kari) McCourt, and Liz (Ryan) Salas; sisters-in-law, Cara (Mark) Riley and Rachelle (Eddie) Gallo, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He joins in eternal peace, his parents, Michael Truax and Dorothy Perry; his sister, Kristi Habiger; his father-in-law, James Desiderio; and his sister-in-law, Christi Truax.
Friends and family may visit from 11:00am – 1:00pm, Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 South Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be held directly after, officiated by Pastor Scott Compton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to 33 Forever Incorporated or Eriesponsible Incorporated.
