Dr. Rollin “John” Anderson died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Cleveland, Ohio. Born March 28, 1933 in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the son of Rollin and Esther (Herd) Anderson of Mansfield and Lucas, Ohio.
John graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1951. Graduated in 1956 from The Ohio State University with a degree in Bacteriology, 1960 graduate from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. July 1960-1961 interned at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, also on staff of Ohio State University, Aug. 1978-1980. Faculty Board of University of Cincinnati, Ohio Medical School, interned at Cleveland Clinic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Private practice at St. Anthony Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, 1980-1983. In 1983-2000 became Doctor of Anesthesia at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio; then part time until 2005 when he retired, also a teacher of Anesthesia at Cleveland Clinic. Member of AMA Medical School.
He was a great supporter of Ohio State football from day one. He grew up in Mansfield and Lucas, Ohio.
He is survived by niece Joyce Ellen (Al) Moore, Crestline, Ohio; Linda and Zeb Butterfield, Wintersville, Ohio; nephew, Dr. Pat (Rose) Butterfield, Columbia, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and a very close friend, Dr. T.J. Lavin, Cleveland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles (Tom) and Mary Ellen Anderson; niece, Ann Reidlinger, Sunbury, Ohio; niece Diana Lynn Anderson, both of Mansfield. Dr. Bill Butterfield, Wintersville, Ohio; sister Maybelle and Bill Butterfield of Ada, Ohio.
Visitation will held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902, the funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Dallas Waggle officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park.
