Noah B. Peters Jr.

Noah B. Peters, Jr. passed away on December 16, 2024. The eldest of five boys, he was born on September 21, 1925, to Noah B. Peters, Sr. and Sophia Beatrice Philpott in Louisa, Kentucky. At the ripe old age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He served in the Pacific as a Motor Machinist’s Mate First Class.

Upon his discharge in 1945, he returned home to Fort Gay, West Virginia, to marry his sweetheart, Blanche Marie Trent, on March 25, 1947. Moving to Mansfield, in search of a job, they built a home in Lexington, Ohio, and began a family. Their daughter, Karen Joy, was born in 1950. Their son, Kerry Mitchell, was born 16 years later.

Since then, the family has grown. Karen married Dennis Bowman and had a son, Trent. Mitch married Monica Ray and had four daughters, Ashley, Morgan, and twins Michelle and Mallory. Greatgrandchildren are Zachary, Audrey, Theo, and twins Beau and Bentley.

Noah made a living first on the Pennsylvania Railroad and later at Empire Detroit Steel Mill. He and Blanche bought a small farm in southern Richland County. When Blanche passed away, Noah sold the farm and moved to Titusville, Florida, living close to his brother, James. He eventually moved back to Mansfield, residing in Primrose Retirement Community.

Noah is survived by his immediate family, two brothers James and Jarrett, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Eugene (Gene) and Clarence Jackson (Jack), two brothers-in-law Ben Johnson and Donald Artrip, sisters-in-law Larna (Jack), Anne (Gene), Emma Lou (James), Mary (Jarrett), Charlene (Ben), and Costella (Donald), and a nephew John Douglas Peters.

Visiting hours at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, are set for Friday, December 20, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. This will be followed by visiting hours from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Peters Chapel at 25853 U.S. Route 52 in Fort Gay, West Virginia. The service will follow at 1:00 p.m. and be officiated by Pastor Lenwood Campbell. Young’s Funeral Home of Louisa, Kentucky, is honored to assist the family. Burial will follow at the Peters Chapel Cemetery.
