Euthimios “Tim” Ghessouras passed away on December 18, 2024, in Mansfield, Ohio. He was born on April 17, 1932, in the village of Ambelaki near Tripoli, Greece to the late Nikolaos Ghessouras and Konstantina Stavropoulos.
Known affectionately by many as “Timmy”, he and his family immigrated to the United States in 1967. A small business owner, he and his wife founded Athens Greek Restaurant, downtown Mansfield, in 1977. Tim was a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
An avid gardener, he loved to travel with his wife, having been all over the United States and the world, they returned to Greece many times, the last being in 2022. He also played an instrumental part of growing the local Greek church, serving on many committees, and leading the Greek Festival for many years.
Tim is survived by his wife of 66 years Evangelia; daughter Tina Theodorou; son Nick (Sally) Gesouras; grandchildren, Jim Theodorou, Tim (Jessica) Theodorou, Tony (Emily) Theodorou, Leah Gesouras and Timothy Gesouras; great grandchildren Addison Theodorou and Alexander Theodorou; brother Bill (Dorothy) Gasuras; sister Effie (Ron) Laipply; several siblings in Greece, Katerina Kigos, Stavroula Eggonopoulos and Tom Gasuras; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Christos Gasuras and son-in-law Socrates Theodorou.
Visitation will be held at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with a trisagion service at 6:45 p.m. The funeral service will be on Monday, December 23, 2024, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 265 W. Third Street, Mansfield, and will be officiated by Father Michael Ellis. Burial will follow at the Mansfield Cemetery.
