Carole Ann Charlton, 82 years old, of Ontario, passed away on June 9, 2024 at Avita Health System - Ontario. She was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania, on September 27, 1941 to the late Elizabeth (Stratton) and Fred Yost.
Carole graduated from Crestline High School. She was devoted to her family, having been married to Ronald for 64 years. She loved watching her husband, children and grandchildren play sports and enjoyed watching golf, OSU football, Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians.
Time with her family was very important as she loved family vacations and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carole was always happy when family was at her home. She kept an amazing home, tidy and organized.
Carole was very generous and retired from Sprint after 13 years as a security analyst. She attended Ontario Christian Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed going to Las Vegas and to the VFW to gamble and she loved playing the lottery. But most of all, she loved being with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Charlton; her children, Rhonda (Tom) Evans and Rodney (Julie) Charlton; grandchildren, Jason (Tiffany) Perry, Joshua (Jennifer) Perry, Ashlee (Brandon) Trader, Eric (Alehna) Evans, Shelby Charlton, Savannah Charlton and Carson Charlton; fourteen great grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Charlene Wukela and Terry (Dave) Crokie.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Connie Simmermacher; brother-in-law, Larry Simmermacher; and her niece, Natasha Early.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Wappner Funeral Directors – Ontario, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Chad Berry. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
