Today we celebrated the passing of my dear friend Bill Fitzgerald. I Remember the very first day we met. He had just moved into Town and was starting school, It was his first day and not knowing anybody I noticed he was sitting by himself at lunch. I walked over sat next to him and we started talking. Within a few minutes he says to me “ I’ll give you my Pepsi and my potochips if you’ll be my friend “  I kid you not, the guy was a natural born salesman. Needless to say he closed that deal and that was the beginning of a friendship that lasted almost 50 years. I am so grateful for the time we spent together and the incredible memories of some wild and crazy times,  It was honor to know Bill and a blessing to have spent so much time with Jean and the “Kids” ...the numerous trips to lake mead to the houseboat adventure on Lake Powell over the many years we had spent together I was able to watch Brian, Scott, Denise, Billy and Michelle grow from being kids to having kids of their own . I watched them today and saw five young adults do a wonderful job honoring their father, a tribute that definitely made your Dad proud. A celebration of life,a day filled with family, friends, tears and laughter. But most importantly a day full of love. 
    I’m gonna miss you my friend , but I know in my heart I’ll see you on the other side...so Willy this song I dedicate to you.

I was truly fortunate to work with Bill over the last 15 years both at MEDRAD and at Alcon.  He was a great leader, a hard work worker and a better friend.  Bill will be in our hearts and memories forever.  

To Jeanne, Brian, Scott, Denise, William and Michelle, our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you.  



Terri and my entire family send our condolences to all of the Fitzgerald family & his extended family that includes all of Bills friends.
Bill was that one of of kind person who truly loved life and living life!
He and I spoke 2-4 times every month. I will truly miss our friendship.
Bill hired me on at MEDRAD in 2010 and supported and promoted me throughout all of these years. 
I will share one story of thousands we had, my youngest daughter was getting married at Destin Florida resort, he and Justin “were” in the area and paid us a visit. We had about 50 people that night celebrating our daughter’s and soon to be son-in-law’s college graduation, his birthday, and all of the other friends graduation.
They chipped in and taught Bill how to use and make frozen concoctions for all.
A very good time was had by all.
Bill fit in and the kids were gracious and enjoyed Bills time.
I appreciate Bills friendship and will miss him dearly.

Bill Fitzgerald was a class act.  He was a man that saw beyond sides and could find an accord in any situation.  In the 4 years I have known Bill, we laughed a lot, we commiserated, we drank a bit, we enjoyed cigars, we cried a little, and we figured stuff out.  Bill could see things in a way that cut away the noise, he understood the heart of people and could use that to help us find clarity and peace.  We called each other Brother and I loved him as my Brother.   

To Jeanne, Scott, and all of Bill’s family, please accept my condolences and know that you are not alone in the hurt.  Bill impacted so many of us in positive ways.  If more people were like Bill this would be a much better world.

I first met Bill when he was a Regional Manager for the Northeast.  I remember talking to him often over the phone or email.  He would tell me about his home and family in CA and would love the opportunity whenever he could be back home.  It was always a pleasure to see him when he came out to Lake Forest.  Bill always had a calm and patient demeanor and his attitude was contagious whenever he had to deal with any frustrating situations or accounts issues.  He always managed to resolve any issues and put the customer 1st.  Establishing a positive outcome and long lasting relationships was important to him.  Bill never wanted an unhappy customer.  I was gratified to see how he genuinely cared for our customers and for all of us who worked for him.  For me, he always mirrored compassion and attentively would listen.  Whenever I had the opportunity to see Bill and catch-up, it was his Big smile and hugs that I will always remember.  He had a wonderful laugh and I'm happy I got to know him better at the National Sales Meetings.  I will miss you Bill. I had the pleasure of working with Bill at MEDRAD. I’ll never forget meeting Bill for the first time. He was traveling with Justin Curtin to region meetings and they came to Lake George for my Northeast team meeting. I think Bill was shocked that I could go shot for shot with him and the guys. We always had so much fun and his laugh was truly contagious! Bill was definitely the life of the party, but as much fun as we all had together, we worked just as hard. Bill had a great reputation at MEDRAD and his customers loved him. He always followed through with his promises and was truth worthy and highly respected. He loved his family and talked about them often and he looked out for coworkers as if we were a part of his extended crew. I’ll miss Bill dearly, but his time here was well spent as he lived fearlessly! I’ll never forget Bill. He was one of a kind!

Bill was a once in a lifetime true friend that would give you the shirt off his back and the shoes off his feet. Our friendship started at MEDRAD and over the years he took me under his wing guiding and mentoring me. I owe a lot of where I am today because of his support and guidance. 
     We spent countless hours traveling together on road trips and called each other all the time. I have so many wonderful stories and memories from our time together. He told stories after stories but it didn’t matter how many times he would tell the same story, I would let him finish the story and the funny thing is, he would tell it exactly the same way with every detail. What I wouldn’t give to hear another story for him about his life.  
Bill was so proud of his family and would brag about each of them every chance he had and they were main priority. He was the hardest worker I’ve ever met but would player harder.  Haha, If there was a statue for sure Bill was going to climb and sit on top of it. It wouldn’t take much for him to have everyone around him laughing and smiling. 

Bill you are forever in my heart and your contagious laugh will always fill the silence.

Bill was the most selfless person I have ever met.  He was more concerned with how you were doing than himself, even towards the end.  He taught me a lot about my job, but really, he taught me a lot about life.  I am very thankful for the times we had even though it was too short.  I hope the Fitzgerald family finds peace during this time knowing that Bill has been such a positive influence on so many people.  He will be really missed.

     I have been blessed to have known Bill for about four years now. In a sense, a short period of time yet once you get to know Bill Fitzgerald, he makes you feel as though you've been part of his life forever. His kind and gentle approach in communicating with people was sincere and skillfully employed even in his management style. Bill loved human interaction and fully understood that you get back what you put into such interactions. He instinctively knew how this exchange of ideas and emotions is key in both personal and professional relationships. I will always stand in awe of this perfect balance of intelligence and humanity. Anyone who has had the opportunity of knowing Bill was similarly affected by this amazing man.
      To Bills family, your husband, father brother etc. was a truly remarkable individual. Even in his darkest hours he showed the dignity and humanity that lesser men could easily have abandoned if not for your love and support. You are all blessed and amazing people who were given this good man and had enough love to share him with the world. He will never be forgotten and will live on in my memory as a bright and shining example of what it means to be a man. Bill and you all will always remain in my heart and in my prayers. My daughter is married to Bill’s son Scott.  My deepest condolences to the Fitzgerald family. May God provide you with comfort and peace by knowing he is no longer suffering.  Bill was always a very kind and caring person. Bill will be truly missed. May God bless your family.  Rest In Peace Bill.

My favorite memory of my cousin, Billy, is in his room in Pearl River, NY. He, age 17 or so and eight years my senior, is listening to records and slightly annoyed by his little cousin insisting on sitting on the carpet to listen with him. But he flashes me a big smile of surprise when I correctly identify Dire Straits on the turntable, and we listen silently, contentedly together to the rest of the album. 

Though we lost touch, he was my dearly loved cousin, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. 

Bill was my Dad, I was the youngest of the clan. There is nothing in the world my dad wouldn’t do for his kids. He was loving, he was supportive, and he always had the best words of encouragement. To say that our family has lost such a lucrative piece to our puzzle is an understatement. He will be deeply missed & will never be forgotten. 

I played softball for majority of my childhood and I will never forget seeing both of my parents on the sidelines cheering me on for every game. You could always find my dad at the snack bar buying licorice, a hot dog, and a Pepsi...and of course a Gatorade for me. 

Another memory I think all of my brothers and sisters can agree on and laugh about now was our dad’s lack of sense of direction. On the rare occasion he’d load up the van for school drop offs, he’d turn around and ask us every time “so which way is it?” Oh what I would give to hear that question one more time. 

I’ll never forget our trips to the store together, with the windows down, sunroof open, blasting Dr. Dre’s “Nothin But a G Thang.” I promise I’ve looked at those videos a hundred times already. He never failed to make anyone and everyone he came in contact with laugh. 

The list of memories can go on for days, and reading everyone’s comments & stories have brought our family such joy. We appreciate every last condolence, prayer, and kind word. Dad, you will be missed more than I could ever explain, I love you forever and will see you again someday❤️ Love always, your little girl. 





Bill was a great friend.   Knowing him for so many years as friends and colleagues.   Trusting, honest and always willing to help.  To even just listen when you needed someone to listen.  He was the type of friend that,  even though you didn’t see each other often, you could always feel comfortable and talk about life.

I am so blessed to have worked closely with Bill on several occasions in the short time we at Alcon were allotted with him. He was a wealth of knowledge and a steadying presence in every endeavor we embarked upon. 

Bill was genuinely interested in others’ well being, and I admired the way he impacted those individuals he interacted with.  I will cherish those memories and always appreciate the lessons Bill.  You will be missed my friend.

Condolences, healing and peace to your family and friends.

I have only met Bill two times while working at Alcon, but he had left a lasting impression on me.  Bill had trained me on our software while I was in California two years ago and I was very impressed by his calm demeanor and ability to communicate things to me in a way that was easy to understand while working with what I thought was a very confusing system.

The second time that I met Bill was at a trade show in New Orleans.  I was very happy to see that Bill was there as I felt very comfortable working with him, especially in such a high stress environment.  Bill was the kind of guy that you just knew you could trust and know that he would build you up instead of hold you down for things that you don't know yet.  The world needs more people like him!

He will be greatly missed by everyone that he touched and I know that he has left a positive and lasting impression on so many people throughout his lifetime.  In my 16 years of working on lasers, I can count on one hand the number of people who I've met that made me feel as comfortable and confident in myself as Bill was able to do for me.  God broke the mold when he made Bill Fitzgerald.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time but I also hope that they can smile and be proud knowing that Bill had such a wonderful and lasting impact on this world.

Mary is a dear friend of mine & she cherished her big brother Billy  so my heart obviously goes out to her and  the entire family on his passing. It was very obvious through conversation we shared the love she had for him and the love he had for his whole family. Prayers to all he certainly will be missed. 

I only met your brother Billy once, literally just a few weeks after Anthony and I started dating - you invited me to have Chinese food with the whole family and I was so scared and intimidated. Your brother made me feel welcomed and really eased all of the anxieties I had going into that dinner at your home. I knew after that meal that the Fitzgerald/Murray's are good people that I want in my life forever 💕

I worked with Bill at Bayer/MEDRAD for a number of years. Bill was a great mentor while I was learning the business. If I ever had a question I knew I could call on him. Thank you for that, Bill.  You will be missed by many.

News of Bill’s passing brought us both to tears and understandably so as he was such an amazing person that we cared so deeply for. We were both lucky enough to work with him at Medrad/Bayer for many many years and the memories we all shared were countless. He was our sidekick on adventures, he was our biggest supporter no matter what, the person who would give you the shirt off his back if needed, the source of so much laughter ... a true friend through and through. He always shared stories and pictures of his family, especially his grandchildren and you could feel how loved they all were by him.  We will miss him deeply but we know he is pain-free in Heaven looking down with that big Bill smile/laugh!

To his family - we know there are no words that can bring you true comfort but we pray that you find peace in the days, weeks, and months to come ... that you are able to lean on one another through the grieving process ... and that you keep your heart open as that is where all of your most precious memories of him will last forever.

I was chatting with someone about you and your passing. You and I spent so little time together, I had a hard time describing  the impression you had left. She described you as a Gentleman; I could not have said it any better, a man with character a “Gentleman”, perfect. Bill, although our time spent together was short, you will be remembered, and as long as we all remember, you live on.  Rest in peace Brother

You shared Bill with his Alcon family and for that we thank you sincerely. I didn't get to see Bill often but always enjoyed sharing a laugh when I did get the opportunity. He always had a smile at the ready and his stories of his family and the love you shared always put a smile on my face. Bill's loss will be felt by all.  

My condolences to the Fitzgerald family. I worked with Bill at Alcon and would see him in the office from time to time. I recall when he started and we chatted about what we did. Instantly Bill gave you that sense of a person that was truthful and straightforward. You couldn’t help but to trust a man like that. He will be missed. Hope you find strength and comfort in these difficult times. I like to think that this is a temporary goodbye and one day love ones will be reunited. Bill and his family will be in our prayers.

I would like to offer my condolences for your family's loss.  Bill and I became quite close during his time as RSM at Alcon because we both started out at the same time. Bill covered the Northeast and I covered Mid-Atlantic.  We learned the role together and I always knew that I could bounce things off of him when I needed the help, and he knew that he could do the same with me.  Bill told me one time that he thought of me as a brother and It really meant a lot.  

Like you, I am saddened by his departure but I hope that you can take comfort in knowing that there is a legacy that he leaves with all of us. One that demonstrates how to treat others, to be fair and honest, to place others before self, and to laugh.

Bill was my father in law, and I loved him very much, however that doesn’t begin to cover the positive influence he’s had on my life. 

From the moment I met Scott’s family I was welcomed and accepted lovingly into the fold. All of the good times we would have getting together for family dinners on Friday nights, celebrating birthdays, and of course Christmas extravaganzas with Bill’s top notch decorating. 

He was always there for us through difficult times as well. When I was in the midst of being diagnosed with a rare lung disease, Scott’s first call was to Bill. He offered all the support and love he could to Scott and I during challenging times. As I improved and then battled through setbacks, he always called, sent flowers, and just let me know he cared. 

He was so supportive of Scott’s career and our move to Oklahoma. And when my own father passed away last year, he was not only there for me, but also made it clear he’d always be just a phone call away if my own Mom needed any help. That’s just the person that he was. He loved his family and friends and would do anything he could to help them. 

Saying that his loss leaves a void in our lives is an understatement, but I know the love we have for him and lessons we’ve learned from him will live on in all that we do. Every family dinner and every strand of Christmas lights we put up, Bill will be there in our hearts. Until we meet again, Bill, I love you and am forever grateful for you.

I want to express my deepest condolences to Bill's family in this time of extreme grief. He left us all too soon. Bill worked for me at Medrad for close to (10) years. He was a trusted and top notch employee. More then that he was a great friend and person. I will miss him. My memory of Bill was how he was one of the few people who kept in touch with me after I left the company. I believe we talked in July. We always had great conversations and talked about the great times we worked together. I know he loved his family. I also got know his son Brian who clearly represented to me what a great Father Bill was. Take solace in knowing how well liked Bill was and with luck we will meet again. Gods speed Bill.
