Ruben Correa Barela

Ruben was born in Pomona, CA to David Candelaria Barela and Mercedes Correa Barela on July 25, 1961. He attended Montclair High School and obtained his GED later in life. He worked as a groundskeeper and landscaper at the Claremont Colleges as a young man.

He is preceded in death by his father David C. Barela, brother David Barela, sisters Rachel Barela, Gloria Jean Barela, and Betty “Baby” Barela Gonzales.

Ruben is survived by his daughter Valerie Barela (Jesse Medina), mother Mercedes Correa Barela Ramirez (Rogelio Ramirez), sister Yolanda Barela Zepeda (Vicente Zepeda), brother Johnny Barela, sisters Mercedes “Mercy” Barela Terrazas (Gerardo Terrazas), Ortencia Barela Sanchez (Peter Sanchez), Sylvia Barela Lemke (Dan Lemke), brother Jimmy Barela (Tina Barela), grandchildren Jesse Medina, Gabriel Medina, Isaac Medina and Neveah Medina and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Draper Mortuary in Ontario, CA.

The service will conclude with Interment at Bellevue Cemetery Mausoleum in the Court of Hope, immediately following the Memorial Service.

A Reception will take place from 12:30pm – 3:00 pm at the Women’s Club of Claremont at 343 W Twelfth St, Claremont, CA 91711.
