Rollande, who often liked to be known as Rollie, was born and raised in St. Agatha, Maine. St. Agatha was a small farming town. Rollie was raised on a potato farm and French was her first language. Rollie obtained a teaching degree in Fort Kent, Maine. She was a teacher in St. Agatha where she met and married Louis Dufour in August of 1946. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Ontario, California where Louis was a Merchant Marine. Rollie and Louis raised their three children, Marie, Laura and Robert in Ontario, CA. Rollie was a substitute teacher while raising her children. One of Rollie’s favorite hobbies was sewing. She loved to sew outfits for her children, nieces and grandchildren. Rollie was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. George Catholic Church in Ontario, CA. During her illness, when she was unable to attend church, she loved to watch EWTN. It gave her peace and spiritual enlightenment. Rollie is survived by her daughter, Laura, her son, Robert, her four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her sisters, Carmen Bartlett and Loretta Martin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis R. Dufour, her daughter Marie Moynihan, her brother Lester Collin, her mother Marie Ann Collin and father Edwin Collin.
God saw that Rollie was very ill and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around her and whispered, “Come with me.” With tearful eyes, we watched her suffer, and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. Her golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. We will miss you, Rollie.
