Martin Leonard De Hoog was born on January 24, 1945. He died at the age of 79, he passed away at his home from cancer on October 10, 2024. Martin was born in Artesia, CA to Martin and Adriana (De Vos) De Hoog. He grew up with his two older sisters, Ann and Irene along with his younger brother Case. As a child, he loved spending his time riding bikes and running around the dairy helping his dad. He attended Bellflower Christian School, and graduated from Valley Christian High School in 1962.
A few years later Martin was drafted into the United States Army, and served our country for two years as a truck convoy driver while on his one year tour in Vietnam transporting people and materials. His family moved their dairy from Artesia to Chino in 1970 where he worked for his dad, and later became a partner with his brother-in-law, Evert De Wyn. He went out on his own after five and a half years; he loved being a dairyman all his life!
He was widely known for the love he had for his animals and the relationships he built with everyone he met and worked with. In his twenties he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Bruinsma. When he thought he was finally old enough at the age of 32, they married on November 22, 1977. They had four children; Martin Albert, Rebecca, and Sarah. Their youngest son, James Andrew, passed away at birth. As a family, they loved spending time together. They especially enjoyed road trips to visit family, spending time on the dairy, and going on family vacations. Martin’s strong faith in the Lord was evident in all that he did. He loved the Lord very much and shared his faith with everyone he met. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Martin; he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family and friends. Martin is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son Marty (Jillian Dengerink), granddaughters Olivia and Courtney, daughter Rebecca (David Rednour), grandsons Rhett and Ryder Rednour, and his daughter Sarah. His sisters Ann Ybema, Irene (Evert De Wyn), his brother Cornelius “Case” De Hoog, many nieces and nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Adriana De Hoog, his brother-in-law, John Ybema, and his son, James Andrew.
