Marcus, fondly known as Marc or Marcos to many, was born to Jesse and Mary Martinez on May 25, 1960. He was a talented chef, cook, and baker who loved spending time with his family as much as he loved experimenting in the kitchen and making new dishes to savor.
Marc is survived by his daughter Salina Gregg (David) of Apple Valley, CA, grandsons, Isaac Orona of Pensacola, FL and Jaedon Gregg of Apple Valley, CA. He is also survived by his sister, Debra Martinez (Richard) of Laughlin, NV and Brother Greg Martinez (Stephanie) of Laughlin, NV. and many nieces and nephews and cousins who loved him so dearly. He is preceded in death by his brothers Steve Tinoco and Adrian Martinez and loving parents, Jesse & Mary Martinez and fiancé, Renee Converse.
Marc’s love for his family has never wavered throughout the years and he found his calling in being an excellent caretaker for both of his parents including several others. He was always there to lend a hand to someone in need. Additionally, he was a proud father to one daughter and even prouder grandfather to his two grandsons. Many of us can recall how proud he was to learn that his oldest grandson was joining the Navy and following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather and great uncles. Marc was present at both of their high school graduations and many life milestone celebrations. He wasn’t just a grandparent and role model to his grandsons, he took that role on for many others. He was Grandpa Marc to many other kiddos as well. He loved every one of his siblings fully and unconditionally, including his many nieces and nephews. His love was deep and wanted to only see the best for each of them.
Aside from his love of family and cooking, he was a supporter of his “Friends of Bill” group and was an excellent example of what it meant to constantly be in recovery and make the choice to overcome challenges. He served as a mentor and worked hard to influence those around him to rise above their addictions. He also loved to travel and explore new places, whether it was a road trip to see family in Wyoming, a quick wave as we passed Mount Rushmore, or take a cruise to the Baja; he was always up for an adventure. Marc loved life and wanted to do things on his terms. He didn’t hesitate to tell you what he really thought but it always came from a place of love and he will be so missed.
We are celebrating Marcus’ life on Friday, April 5th, 2024 in Ontario, CA at Draper’s Mortuary at 2pm followed by a viewing at 4pm.
