In loving memory of Kenneth Edwin Hawthorne, who passed away on April 18, 2024, at the age of 68. Ken, born on September 13, 1955, was a devoted son, brother, husband, loving father, proud grandfather, beloved uncle and cherished friend.
Ken dedicated over four decades of his life to his profession as a Vons truck driver, beginning his journey with Vons as a box-boy in 1971 and retiring as a truck driver in 2011. He was one of the youngest drivers to ever be hired with Vons. Throughout his years on the road, he exemplified diligence, reliability, and a strong work ethic, earning the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of those he served.
On November 25, 1989, Ken embarked on a new chapter of his life when he married the love of his life, Terri. Their union was a testament to enduring love and companionship, marked by shared laughter, many adventures, and countless cherished memories.
As a resident of Chino, California, for 35 years, Ken was deeply rooted in his community, where he formed lifelong friendships and made countless memories with his family. Additionally, he and his beloved wife, Terri, often vacationed and lived part-time in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where they built a home together in 2001. Their time in Lake Havasu City they were surrounded by the beauty of the desert landscape as well as the beautiful glimmer of the water along with cherished friendships.
As a stepfather to Terri's children, Mark and Traci, Ken embraced his role with open arms and a generous heart. He offered guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love, leaving an enduring impact on their lives.
Ken found immense joy and fulfillment in his role as a grandfather to Luke, LaVera, and Cora. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was sharing stories, playing games, watching performances and baseball games, or simply basking in their love and silliness. His legacy of love will continue to resonate in the hearts of his grandchildren.
Ken's journey of faith took a significant turn in 2005 when he found God and became a member of Inland Hills Church, now known as Verve City Church. It was within the walls of this congregation that he discovered a deeper connection to his spirituality and a community of like-minded believers who enriched his life with fellowship and support. In 2020, Ken furthered his spiritual growth through the teachings of Pastor Jack Hibbs at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, where he found inspiration and guidance to strengthen his faith and deepen his relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior. His commitment to his spiritual journey was a testament to his enduring faith and belief in the transformative power of God's love. He found peace and strength in his belief, knowing that he would one day reunite with his loved ones in heaven. As we bid farewell to Ken, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit now dwells in the eternal embrace of our God, where pain and suffering are no more, and love reigns supreme.
Ken will be remembered for his devotion to his friends and family, his quick wit, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by his family and friends.
Though Ken may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us each day. May his soul rest in eternal peace with God our loving father, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
