Joan Ida Burri

Born July 24, 1933, the female twin to Archie and Ida DuRocher in Hartford Conn., sister to 4 other brothers and 3 sisters (she has one surviving sister). Died peacefully in her sleep at home on Dec. 29, 2014. Devoted wife of 53 years to John J. Burri and mother to Robin Boyett, Sandra Clark, Christopher, John and Brady Burri; grandmother to Kyle and Kimberly Boyett Jacklyn, Ryan and Gisella Burri and great-grandmother to Madisyn Stanton and Paityn Boyett. Longtime resident of Walnut California and currently residing for 14 years in Alta Loma. John & Joan were married in Holyoke, MA., while John was visiting a close military and school friend. They were married on May 6, 1961 after a 10 month courtship. Shortly after marriage, the couple moved to California where John resumed his college studies. Joan ended her working carrier prior to the birth of their first child Robin in 1963. She spent the remainder of her life caring for her husband, all her extended family, church and civic duties. Joan was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2009 and battled vigorously thru the years with chemo and radiation therapy until the dreaded disease claimed her. Her impact on her family, church and many friends will be long lasting. She was greatly loved and admired by many and will be forever in their hearts. Viewing will be at Draper Mortuary, 811 N. Mountain Ave., Ontario, CA 91762 from 4 pm to 8 pm on Monday Jan. 5th with rosary at 7 pm, funeral mass will be at 10 am on Tuesday, Jan. 6th at St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church located at 9135 Banyan St., Alta Loma, CA 91737.
