The oldest of two boys, Homer (also known to some family members as Arnold) was born on October 25, 1933, in Colorado, to Howard M. Mosley and Penny Brown. He and his brother, Aaron, grew up simply, on a ranch; there, he developed his deep love of nature and animals, country and cowboys. Homer and Aaron attended a one-room school house in Sargents, CO, where he quickly excelled and skipped a grade. His natural intelligence led to his early graduation at sixteen years old, at which time he joined the Marine Corps for a four year tour of duty. While serving, Homer received training to be an engineer, and began a career at General Dynamics in 1956, before his discharge from the Marine Corps. Homer worked at General Dynamics from 1956-1992.
Once out of the military, Homer married Lynn Mosley, and together they raised a family that he treasured: Cheryl, Greg, Phil, Debbina, and Michele.
In 1976, Homer married the woman he called his angel, his best friend throughout the rest of his life, Edie Mosley. Together, Homer and Edie raised Kalinda in a household with numerous animals, from crow to dog, rabbit to turtle, and all things in between that brought him great joy. As a couple with Edie and as a family with Michele and Kalinda along, Homer enjoyed his favorite pastime, dirt bike riding in the deserts of California, even racing from Barstow to Vegas with his motorcycle club, The 100’s M/C.
Homer is survived by his mother, Penny Brown; brother, Aaron Mosley; his wife, Edie; his six children; and, in addition, Homer was blessed with, and survived by, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Homer will be remembered for many things, perhaps most of all his delivery of excellent bedtime stories, profound love of animals, and unwavering appreciation of a good Western flick.
He is loved.
