Elvia was born in Tijuana Baja California. She was the youngest of 9 siblings, the baby of the family. When she was 7 years old, her family moved to Upland, CA. Elvia was always happy when surrounded by her family. She spent 9 years in Fresno picking fruit on a farm with her parents, brothers, and sisters. Elvia was full of joy even during hard times, when her oldest son Ray passed away in 1987. She was able to get through this hard time by her strong faith in the Lord and by loving her family and being surrounded by so many friends and family.
Through determination and hard work Elvia received her degree and later worked at the Claremont McKenna College of the Claremont Colleges. She then retired in 2016. She spent her retirement traveling with her loving husband, Mike, enjoying life. Elvia was blessed to have a husband that loved spoiling her and loved her unconditionally, he was the love of her life. They were truly in love. Elvia lived her life to the fullest, having fun with all her family and friends. She had a zeal for life and had a bold unstoppable outlook. She loved people wholeheartedly and everyone loved her right back. She had compassion for everyone she met, and would take time to help anyone that needed it.
Elvia enjoyed spending time at the beach, showing off her bikini. She loved words and language, and reading was one of her passions. Music was a big part of her life, she loved to sing and dance. She had a beautiful unique voice that blessed hearts and glorified the Lord. Elvia enjoyed her time singing as part of her church group choir. She loved serving the Lord Jesus Christ. Most of all she loved her kids and spending time with her 14 grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother Jaime and sisters Lola, Panchita, Tani, and Martha, her lovely husband Mike, her two daughters Katherine and Leslie, her grandkids Naomi, Matthew, Alexandria, Julian, Jade, Isabella, Jessica, and Abigail, Including her step-grandkids, Haile, Mckenna, Charlotte, Adeline, Milo, and Maverick.
Although we have to say goodbye, we are comforted to know that she is in the arms of her son Ray and our Lord Jesus Christ. She will be truly missed and life here on earth will be a little dimmer without her bright smile to warm our hearts.
