Charlene was born in Olathe, Kansas, and was raised about 25 miles south of the city , in Paola, Kansas. In her teens, she moved to California along with her mother and sister, where she graduated from Hollywood High School. Living the last part of her life in Upland and Fontana, California.
Char past away one day short of her 54 year Anniversary on May 19th, to her husband and loving partner Roger Atwell better know to many as Toby. Just like the vows Toby took 54 years ago, he loved, honored, and cherished his Char right up to the end. She is survive by her husband, daughters Pamela and Tiffany, grandchildren Makenzie, Reagan and Noah, and great-granddaughter Jasmine. Char (Nana) loved nothing more than spending time with her family and grandchildren attending sporting events and school functions.
She worked for several years as a homemaker, including 20+ years as "Baton Twirling Mom" for her daughters' baton-twirling competitions, for which she provided all the support and essential needed for her daughters be State and National Champions. Teaching them how to win and lose with grace and dignity and more importantly how to have fun and that family was first!
Char was a longtime executive assistant to the founding President Dr. Pumerantz, and the Board of Trustees at Western University of Health Sciences. After joining Western University in 1984, Char became know for her winning smile, her love for sunflowers, fall colors, Necco wafers, Lay's potato chips and Chai Latte's, and her passion for families - her own and the second family she considered Western U to be. She will missed by her Western U family!

Albeit our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing we have a very special "Guardian Angel" who will follow us and keep us safe until we meet again.
