So sorry to hear of Allen's passing.  He and I were very good friends in grammer school and then lost touch for many years until we became reacquainted on facebook for the past year or so.  It was good to be in touch again and talk about some of the things we did in our youth.  Although I don't know his family I send my prayers and sympathy to all of you.  My regret is that we were not able to meet again before his passing.

Verda, thank you for making Al's life happy again. Everytime I talked with him, he would tell me how much he enjoyed life having you. We had a good life growing up and visiting his family in Berwyn and Rockford and they coming here to Big Star Lake for vacation every year. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and his extended family and Donna and Joe.

You were a grandfather to me and treated me as one of your own grandchildren. I was able to learn so much in the amount of time I was able to spend with you. I will always cherish the memories I have of spending time with you, and watching the Ducks playoff runs with you year after year. Not only myself, but everyone who had the privilege of knowing you are very fortunate. You brought joy and love to every person you met.

Since the moment I met you, I loved you. You were the most amazing uncle I could have ever asked for. Your conversations, fresh fruit, and love for family made my time with you priceless. You've always been so truly wonderful to my family. I love you very much uncle Al and miss you daily. I'm so blessed you got the chance to meet Brianna and come to my wedding. Love you always.

God just couldn't keep Al and Mickey apart another day.  I will bet Mickey was arguing his case to get on with the reunion (probably had a perfect tee time and needed a partner).  Now they are together again, having a great time as I will always remember them.  So many memories flood my  brain: card games in the office, homemade pickles, unloading watermelons, the smell of fresh tomatoes at the the LA farmer's market, great burnt ends of BBQ pork at the Chinese restaurant around the corner as their truck was being loaded, so many softball games and golf matches, two lovely families.  Both were great men, great friends whom I loved and who were a big influence on me.  I will miss Al.  My prayers are with you all, Mitzenmachers.

I knew Al for such a short time and just a few visits but from the first time I crossed the room to shake his hand and he got up out of his chair I knew I was going to like him, and to find out Al never went to an Native American Pow Wow and always wanted to since he was a kid, it was my gole to take him and Verda, I miss you my good friend.

We have been friends for almost 60 years since high school & college.  Allen,our memories together have been many.  I remember the epic ping pong games in DeKalb when we should have been studying-so competitive!! Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with Patty, Michael, Verda, and Nick.

So sorry to hear about Al. Its been o so long since weve seen each other. Lots of space between CA and MI.. We both had a lot of good times together at Berwyn ,Marne and Big Star lake back in the 50s and 60s. Lots of trouble making at times as I recall,and it does get harder to recall.I will always enjoy those memories.God be with you Al, Your cousin ,Bill and Kathy Bagin .Belmont,MI.

Patty, I'm at loss of words over Allen's passing. I still have pictures when I was so young with your parents and pictures of your dad taking my son fishing. Allen will always have a place in my heart. Such a great person as was Donna. He is with God now and will be comforted forever with Gods love. Allen, what a blessing to know you. You are a very humble, sweet man and you have raised a beautiful family. You know and love our Savior Jesus and I will see you in heaven. Poppy, I have known few men in my life you could reach in and capture a heart with the ease that you did. You have left us with an unbelievable legacy in your beautiful family, and been an example for all of us to model.
