She was born on August 21, 1924 in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Frank and Jennie (Rosetta) Marino.
For several years Veronica worked at the former Dress Factory on Chestnut Street, AO Fox, and Homer Folks Hospital. She was a dedicated friend, sister, sister in law, and aunt to four generations of the Marino family, answering to special nicknames such as Iffy and Aunt Ronc. When asked why she never married, her reply was always, “No man is going to tell me what to do with my money!” While never needing a drivers license, she was always invited by friends and family to events and especially enjoyed playing a family card game, “Scat” at home with “the family.”
Veronica is survived by her loving sister in law, Margaret “Peggy” Marino of Oneonta, and several generations of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by family members, Ann Marino, Mary and David Stanton, Rosalie and James Angelotti, Dolores and Enio Colone, Ralph Marino, Frank and Janice Marino, Karl and Ellen Marino, Paul and Alice Marino, Albert Marino, Thomas and Rita Marino, Ronald and Betty Marino, great Aunt Margaret Mathews, and special friend Lucy Fink.
As per Veronica’s wishes, there will be a graveside committal service in the spring in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Emmons.
Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grummonsfuneralhome.com for the Marino family.
