Lisa, we were so sorry to belatedly hear about Steve's passing.  We're both thinking of you - both of you were always so kind to both of us, especially when we first moved to Oneonta.  I'm so grateful to have known Steve.  Hope to see you soon  xoxoxo

I’ll forever appreciate the way Steve had loved my family and the way he loved everyone around him. He never failed to give the most enthusiastic good morning and “goodnight all you wonderful people” to his colleagues at the Hall of Fame. So thankful to have had someone so special a part of my life. Sending lots of love to his friends and family ❤️

I communicated with Steve while my son was helping to organize collections through his Roberto's Kids Organization. The kindest and sincerest of men. My son had many collections and Steve was always there ready to send off the donation to the next group of kids who needed it.

I know my son was profoundly touched by his work and dedication. Indeed, Steve was a role model. His warmth and  gratitude woven in every word of his emails.

My son recently went off to college and Steve wrote him a kind note wishing him well and always reminding him that if he was ever in town he should stop by the HOF. 

We will always remember Steve, his work, and his life. 


Always a gentleman - even when no one was watching. He treated everyone like a Hall of Famer; other staff, the museum visitors, everyone. I will always remember him as a man of integrity and what a great example he was to me and my family.  He was, truly, a pleasure to work with. The Sayers family will miss him very much.

So saddened to hear of Steve's passing.  He was a great friend and neighbor for many years at Goodyear Lake.  He taught me to water ski with immeasurable patience, perseverance and kindness which followed him throughout his life.  RIP my friend.

Our family would like to extend our condolences to your family.  My son Ryan Gracey did an unpaid internship at the Baseball Hall of Fame from October through December 2019.  He worked with Steve every Saturday morning for those three months.  He learned a lot from Steve and as a result of that internship he was hired in April of 2021.  I started at the Hall of Fame in April of this year and had come to appreciate Steve's very dry sense of humor.  Ryan and I often work together at the Hall and when Steve would see us he would say "Hello Ryan and hello to the other Gracey." That was Steve in a nutshell.  He will be sorely missed!!

I never had the pleasure of meeting Steve Pindar, but my children have worked with Mr. Pindar at the Hall of Fame for the past few summers. Most days, after work, a story or two would be shared and most often it affectionately included Steve.  My husband and I would often inquire about their day and coworkers, and the the kids could never say enough kind and thoughtful words of their coworker, Steve. For awhile, they spoke so often of Steve, we thought he was a college age employee like them. When more local friends began to work with them, more stories continued to be shared with Steve often at the root.  It was clear that these kids adored, respected and shared a high level of respect for this amazing man.  I remember at the end of summer,  the crew reflected back on time at work and shared, “Steve is the BEST!  He is just the best! That’s all!”  How I wish I could have met this man who made such an impact on so many and shared so generously! My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. 

We are saddened for your loss, even though we havent seen Steve in a few years we remember all the hard work he did in the DR.  He was dedicated to all the people there and shared his love with them.  God Bless you all

So sorry to hear about Steve, me and my late husband became a host family back in 2013, and I lost Dene in 14 I kept being a host family for the Oneonta Outlaws, until I left Oneonta in 2016 
We hosted the whole team for a meal one night as well at our campground Susquehanna Trail 


Shocking to lose such a great friend who I’ve only worked at the HOF with for two years. He was a (gold) soul who made friends easily and quickly made you feel “the best”. He loved people and  baseball intensely and was living his passion. Gonna feel lost and hurt for a while to get through this. I know his family is stricken with grief to their core and pray for their strength and courage to go on as he would want……hugs and comfort from above to all of you. We loved you Steve ……

I've worked with Steve at the Hall of Fame since 2019 and to say he will be missed is an understatement.  He ALWAYS put the visitor first.    He knew how special the HOF is to people and when he would help a visitor, bringing a smile to their face, making their visit special, he would say "That's why we do what we do."  I can't even express how much he meant to all of us at work.

We were so saddened to hear of Steve's passing.  We have wonderful memories of him.  Steve was a wonderful, kind and funny guy!  Van had a lot of fun with the Sunday morning Basketball games. I remember being at your Wedding shower and how happy you were!

I was shocked and saddened by the news that Steve had passed. I knew Steve through a long time friendship with his wife Lisa. I've heard many stories of what both Steve and Lisa did for people. I know Roberto's Kids was Steve's heart!

I never got the chance to meet Mr. Pindar in person and I am deeply sorry for having missed out on meeting such an amazing and kind man. I know Steve through his work with the Roberto’s Kids Organization and I am so happy to say that Steve has helped make the lives of so many kids, families, and ball players just like myself so much better. Mr. Pindar was the kind of man who would send a handwritten note after every donation he received from me. While I may be young, Steve is one of the most genuine, kind hearted people I have ever interacted with. I am so sorry for his loss and wish his family and loved ones the peace of mind in knowing that he lived a life of kindness, compassion, and generosity in the service of others. I have no doubt in my mind that Steve is in a better place, just as how I am positive he bettered the lives of so many kids just like myself. Rest in Paradise Mr. Pindar.

Hi: I met Steve through facebook a few years back. I called him a friend. When I had a baseball question, he always had an answer. I was truly bummed to hear of his passing.  May Steve RIP and his family know how nice of a guy he was to everyone.

I was saddened and shocked to hear of Stephen's sudden passing. Unlike others posting condolences here, I only knew him from Facebook. We had discussed an actual meeting but it never came to fruition. I was pleased to have made his acquaintance on Facebook. I love the work that he did with Roberto's Kids, as Clemente has always been one of my great heroes. If there are calling hours I will try to make the trip to pay my respects. I have made arrangements to have a tree planted in אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל in Stephen's blessed memory. You should receive the certificate in a week to 10 days. May HaShem grant succor to all of you at this painful and difficult time.

As General Manager of Oneonta Outlaws in 2012, Steve invited Al Leiter, who was coaching his son"s Summit, NJ team at CASV, to make an "unofficial" visit prior to a game at Damaschke Stadium. Al, who started his pro career as a pitcher for the Oneonta Yankees, signed autographs for both fans and players, and posed for photos. Steve was a master at organizing, and enlisting the cooperation of everyone. These skills apparently served the HOF very well also. Many reasons all of us will miss Steve!
