She was born on October 25, 1927 in New York City, the youngest child of John and Nancy (Allegro) LiPuma. She married Clenneth “Ken” Barkman on November 14, 1964 in PA. He predeceased her on December 17, 2003.
Rose began her career in her twenties working for the Jonathan Logan Dress Factory on Chestnut Street in Oneonta. Later, she held a bookkeeping position at the Oneonta Plains Dress Factory.
When she wasn’t working, her time was devoted to her husband Ken and daughter Linda. She helped operate the family farm in East Meredith until her retirement.
In her spare time, Rose enjoyed books and reading. She loved membership in her Rosary Group. She was especially fond of flowers.
Rose is survived by her niece, Norma Borger; her great niece Tracy O’Connor and her children, Matthew, Zachary and Lindsey; her step daughter, Janet Brainerd; her stepson, Wayne Barkman; and many nieces and cousins.
She was also predeceased by her daughter, Linda Lee Barkman; brothers John, Angelo, and Gene LiPuma; and a sister, Mamie Martin.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 12:30 pm at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta, with Rev. John P. Rosson officiating. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10 am.
Burial will follow in Harpersfield Cemetery, Harpersfield.
