He was born on November 5, 1953 in New Berlin, NY, the son of Raymond and Shirley (Chaffee) Enck.
Rob graduated from Oneonta Central School in 1972, entering the US Army in 1973. He was honorably discharged in 1976. He moved to Michigan in 1977 and married Catherine Collins in 1983. Rob was employed at various businesses while in Michigan, including Edward Brothers, Inc., and Exemplar Manufacturing. Moving back to NY in 2006, he worked for Apple Converting and most recently at Walmart in Oneonta as an Automotive Technician.
Rob enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes and was a member of the Oneonta RC Flyers. He was also a member of the American Legion Riders and an avid NASCAR fan.
Rob is survived by his wife, Catherine Enck of West Oneonta; his children, Andrew Enck (Carrie) of Indian Head, MD, Mitchell Enck of West Oneonta, Kathryn McAdams (Douglas) of Morris, and John Enck of Oneonta; siblings, Rebecca Enck of Oneonta, Donald Enck (Trisha) of Corvallis, OR, Judith Shiner (Dale) of Vestal, Trudie O’Sullivan (Joseph) of Lutz, FL, and Richard Enck (Alice) of Mt. Upton; mother in law Dolly Collins of Saline, MI; uncle, Sherwood Enck (Donna) of Corning; sister in law Sandra Emrick (Walter); sister in law Joyce Collins (Brian Ross); sister in law Suzanne Compton (William); special cousin Elsie Colburn; ex wife Sybil Chantelois; stepson Wayne Chantelois; step daughter, Tracey Birchmeir; and grandchildren, Jacob Enck and Leland McAdams.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Rod Rockwell.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta, from 3-7 pm. Masks are required for entry into the funeral home. Please be courteous of others while you wait to enter.
A private memorial service will take place on Friday, August 28, 2020.
A graveside service with military honors will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the Union Cemetery, Edmeston, at 2 pm, with Rev. John Buddle officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Oneonta RC Flyers and or the American Legion Post 259 Riders.
