Robert W. Archer

Bob was born on June 30, 1950 in Sidney, New York, the son of Harvey O. and Ada (Shaver) Archer. He married Debra Mattice on June 10, 1972 at the Red Door Presbyterian Church.

Bob worked as an insurance agent/financial planner for MetLife and eventually retired from Nationwide and the Don Marsh Agency. An adjunct professor and substitute teacher he enjoyed teaching history to his students. Bob was also a devoted New York Yankee fan!

Friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta, New York 13820. A memorial service will take place immediately following at 11:30 AM with Rev. Cynthia Walton-Leavitt officiating.

Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Debbie Archer; a brother, Olon (Madge) Archer; brothers in law, Tom Molineux and John (Pam) Mattice, and Chris Carvin; and sisters in law, Connie Mattice and Gloria Hall. His nieces and nephews were Bob's pride and joy. Many cousins also survive. Lifelong friends Donna & Gary Baker and Cynthia & Bill Goertemoeller were a source of love, strength and comfort. Bob's orange kitty mickey was always at his side.

He was predeceased by his parents; a sister Cheryl Molineux; a sister in law, Lisa Carvin; and a brother in law, David K. Mattice. He was also predeceased by his half brothers and half sister, Howard, Buddy, Bill, Norris (Red), and Barbara.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Operation Warm, a Rotary program that provides winter coats to local children in need. Checks can be made out to Oneonta Rotary Fund with Operation Warm in the memo line and mailed to PO Box 1122, Oneonta, NY 13820.
