Ralph H Miller, II

He was born October 11, 1950 in Meadville, PA the son of the late Ralph H. and Mildred (Boyle) Miller. Ralph grew up in Meadville and graduated from Meadville High School in 1968. Following graduation, he furthered his education at SUNY Delhi where he graduated in December 1970. His studies brought him to the Oneonta area, where he met the love of his life, Suzanne (Danzi) Miller, in September 1970. They were married October 16, 1971 in Oneonta.

From 1974 to 1985, Ralph worked at Unalam as a Sales Rep. and Estimator. In 1986, Ralph and Suzanne purchased and operated Gene’s Carpet Cleaning until 1998, when he went to work at Bellevue Builders in Oneonta and then Sidney until his declining health required him to retire in 2014.

Ralph was very involved with the Oneonta Little League for many years, serving as coach, manager of the All Stars, Player Rep. and also grounds keeper for both the Little League and the Sixth Ward Booster Club. Those who knew him best knew how much he enjoyed serving his local community behind the scenes, including mowing the largest field he could find, right behind his own home in the Sixth Ward.

He was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church and was a Steward for the church. He served as one of the leaders of the Boys Brigade, which he continued with his grandsons. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts, where he served as a Committee Member and Committee Chair for Troop 23 for several years.

Ralph was a loving husband, father, pop, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Ralph walked with God; he shared his faith and love with his wife and family. Through many trials, his faith only grew stronger, serving as a living testimony to God’s redeeming power. His bright smile, quick wit, contagious laughter, and giant, warm hugs will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Suzanne Miller; five children and their families, Ralph III (Trey) and his children, Ralph IV (Clay), Davis, Adelaide and great granddaughter, Willow; Peter and Mary Miller and their children, Noah, Kylie and Quade; Joshua Miller and Fiance, Erika and his daughters, Gianna, Ava, Mia and Daniella; Nicole and Michael Chilson and their sons, Bryce and Reid; and Zachary and Tami Miller and their daughter, Zoey; four sisters, Polly Edwards, Marlyn Choffel, Carol Grove and Elaine and Ron Barnes; two sisters-in-law, Denise and Rob Rotolo and Judi Visnosky; 22 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otto and Madolyn Danzi; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Al Thompson; brothers-in-law, Jim Choffel, Ed Grove, Dick Edwards, and Greg Visnosky.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main Street, Oneonta. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. Phil Livermore officiating.
