He was born May 19, 1930 in Oneonta the son of the late Stuart J. and Helen (Adams) Hurlburt.
Millard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was first married to Shirley Howard and she predeceased him on May 2, 1971. On August 29, 1972, Millard married Dorothy A. Joyce in Unadilla.
For many years, Millard was an Operating Engineer with the Local Union #106 in Albany.
Millard loved his garden and tending to his produce stand, “Pops Produce Stand”. His customers were his determination to keep going everyday. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In their retirement, Millard and Dorothy would spend winters in Arizona. He enjoyed shooting pool with his friends in Arizona but most of all he enjoyed going for rides with his best friend, Bob Davis and having Bob taking him all around Arizona looking at the cotton fields, counting cattle and seeing the citrus trees. Millard had determination and was a hardworker no matter what he was doing.
He was a 50+ year member of the Otego American Legion and was honored for his consecutive years of membership.
Millard is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Hurlburt of Oneonta; one son, Shawn B. Hurlburt of Otego; granddaughter, Danielle Shaver of Milford; step son, Craig Speranzi of San Antonio, TX; step children, David and Jeanne Brockway and Gerald and Isabella Brockway; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Stuart A. Hurlburt, Sr.; uncle, John E. Hurlburt, Sr.; step sons, Mark Speranzi and Robert Simms; step daughter, Andrea Speranzi VanDermark.
At Millard’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
