Michael S. "Pac" Packard

He was born March 09, 1964 in Oneonta the son of Dwight and Ruth (Gersoni) Packard.

Pac a lifelong area resident graduated from Oneonta High School the Class of 1982. He then went on and graduated from Herkimer Community College and Oswego State. Mike began teaching technology at Morris Central School in September 1987. He just loved working with kids on the CNC machine.

One of his biggest passions was paddling. He was inducted into the General Clinton Canoe Regatta Hall of Fame. He always looked forward to the Ausable River Michigan Marathon. Pac was a mentor for youth paddling and introduced paddling to many youths throughout the area. For several years he was in charge of The Helping Hands race.

Pac will be remembered as a jack of all trades, a coach, a mentor, a heckler and fun loving.

He enjoyed snowmobiling and was an avid bowler.

Mike is survived by his two sons, Parker and Kolby Packard; brother, Greg and Stacy Packard; sister, Shelley and Ron Fink; brother, Shawn and Kristen McGuinness; brother, Mike and Catherine Haney; his parents, Dwight and Nancy Packard and Ruth and Richard Lind; and nieces and nephews, Kaylee and Ryan Packard, Dillon Mitchell, Donna Mitchell, Michelle Kimball and Michael Rappaport; and cousins, David Mandel, Sandra Mandel, Josh Mandel, Valerie Thorne and Jason Thorne.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
