Mary C. Donovan

She was born June 15, 1945 in Washington DC, the daughter of John J. Collins and Mary C. (Culver) Collins. She married John Schuck in 1964. He predeceased her in 1970. She then married John Donovan on May 5, 1973. He predeceased her on February 1, 2007.

Mary was employed as a secretary for St. Mary’s Church for 18 years. Prior to that she worked for Head Start in the Bronx from 1984-1997.

In addition to being a member of the church, Mary participated in many St. Mary’s activities including Pumpkins in the Park and the Bereavement Committee. She was a faithful volunteer for many other local charities both at St. Mary’s and the Oneonta community.

She is survived by her children, John G. (Mariellen) Schuck of Oneonta, John F. Donovan, Jr. of Oneonta, James P. (Martine) Schuck of Whitehall, PA, Joseph E. Donovan of Oneonta, and Jerilyn (Victor) Olmedo of Washingtonville; grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Joseph, Simone, James, Breege, Victor, Derrin, Neala, and Brielle; as well as many brothers and sisters, and their families.

A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 10:15 am in St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Center of St. Mary’s.

Inurnment will take place in the columbarium crypt at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the American Cancer Society.
