She is now at peace and enjoying her new home in Heaven.
She died surrounded by her family in her Spring Hill, Florida home after battling cancer for over a year. She now has her complete healing and joins other deceased family members in praise to her Lord.
Lorraine was born on February 4, 1937, in Oneonta, the daughter Jay and Madolin (Everett) Lull She married Jack D. Reed on July 11, 1954.
She enjoyed life most as a mother and grandmother. Whether in Spring Hill, FL or Oneonta, NY, she was an avid NASCAR fan, she also enjoyed golfing, shopping, cooking, visiting with her friends in Florida and New York and vacationing with family and friends.
She was a member of the Oneonta Country Club and enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends. She was also a member of the West Oneonta Fire Department Auxiliary for many years and belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Laurens Presbyterian Church in younger years, then West Oneonta Baptist Church while her children were growing up and had been in the last few years attending Community Gospel Church in Oneonta, NY.
Lorraine worked for Bookhout Insurance Company, the Daily Star and was co-owner and bookkeeper with her husband, Jack, of Reed & Sons, Inc. well-drilling and septic tank service until her retirement. While in Florida she belonged to the Red Hat Ladies group. She also volunteered at The Lord's Table in Oneonta when in New York.
Lorraine is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack D. Reed; her two daughters, Jackie Ann Shaffer and husband, Edwin of Stamford, NY and Alana J. Favaloro and husband, Douglas of Norwich, NY; two sons, Randall D. Reed and wife, Kelly of Morris, NY, Casey W. Reed of Maryland, NY and fiancée, Nancy.
She is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and five great grandchildren ; a brother, Bernard Lull of Zephyrhills, FL; two sister-in-laws, Donna Leven and Lolo Delaney, a brother-in-law Denton Reed and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Jerald Lull, a sister, Francelia Stepp and a grandson, Aaron Reed
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, MAY 18, 2013 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta with Rev. Donald Yarborough, officiating. Friends may call from 11 am until service time at the funeral home
