Laurie Ann Enck

LAURIE ANN ENCK, 51 Years of age from Oneonta, NY passed away peacefully Monday May 19, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital after her courageous battle with breast cancer. Her husband, daughter and family were at her side.

Laurie was born August 28,1962 in Delhi, NY to Paul (Pete) and Marilyn Bowker. On September 9, 1989, Laurie married the love of her life Gary C. Enck.

Laurie graduated form Walton High School, attended Onondaga Community College and earned her degree from SUNY Oneonta.

Although her aspirations were to be a teacher, she joined her husband and became a valuable asset to Gary Enck's Car Store, Inc. with her sincere interest in their customers. Laurie was truly loved by all who met her.

After the birth of her precious daughter Olivia, Laurie devoted her time, love and energy to the teaching career she originally sought. However, Olivia was her only student. Today, Laurie's love of music is especially prominent in Olivia. It was always a special treat to see them play the violin and piano together. Even during the time she was struggling with her illness she endeavored to Olivia's music instruction.

Laurie unselfishly spent time with the local cancer support group and Olivia's school, and offered her support to anyone in need. Laurie's most admirable trait was her ability to truly care for anyone in need. She was truly God's gift to all who knew her. We will miss our Angel.

Laurie is survived by her husband Gary Enck, daughter Olivia Pearl Enck, Stepdaughter Jeni C. Enck, mother Marilyn Walley, brother Anthony (Cindy) Jump, sister Sheryl Hickson, sister Charlene Todack,, sister-in-law Linda (Robert) Cable, and her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and her many close friends.

Laurie was predeceased by her father Paul Bowker, Stepfather Harland Walley, brothers Keith Bowker and infant brother Paul (Petey) Bowker.

Laurie's teasing expression was "You will miss me when I'm gone." An understatement for sure!

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM. A service to celebrate the life of Laurie Ann Enck will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 4:00 PM in the Susquehanna Valley Baptist Church, Oneonta with the Reverend Bruce McCardle officiating. Memorial donations in Laurie's name may be made to the Oneonta Community Christian School, 158 River Street, Oneonta, New York 13820. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home and envelopes will be available.
