Juanita E. Ploutz

She was born August 26, 1926 in Stamford the daughter of the late Robert W. and Mamie E. (Tompkins) Halstead.

For over 25 years, Juanita worked at Homer Folks Hospital in the laundry department.

On October 26, 1946, Juanita married Elmer Barnes in Oneonta. Elmer predeceased her on July 17, 1980. She then married Fred Ploutz on April 14, 1989 in Mt. Vision. Fred predeceased her on July 9, 1995.

Juanita and Elmer were members of the Antique Car Club. She enjoyed quilting with her sister, Hilda. Juanita would cut the squares and Hilda would sew them. Together, they made the perfect quilt.

Juanita is survived by two grandchildren, Cody Barnes, Florida and Jessica Barnes, Oneonta; a special niece, Evelyn Griffin, Schenevus who has been caring for her for the past several years; as well as several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Bruce, Roger and Robert Barnes; and six sisters and three brothers.

Services will be private and burial will take place in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
